Who Approved August?

Meet the teacher night.
New shoes.
A calendar that somehow filled itself overnight.
And suddenly, mornings matter a whole lot more.

If you've been around here for a while, you might remember when I shared about our little "wellness downfall" a few weeks back. So here's a confession that might surprise you, considering we own a healthy food business here in the Austin area: our breakfast usually takes about an hour!

We move slowly, I cook from scratch, and we sit together and chat about the world. It's honestly one of my favorite parts of the day :)

But we've intentionally built our life to make that possible. That's not a humble brag, it's just our season, and I know it isn't everyone's reality. Actually, it isn't even ours every single day.

Some mornings, breakfast is a frozen waffle eaten standing at the counter, or cup of coffee that has gone cold, or a leftover burger patty eaten in the car as we rush off to greet the day.

I can get in my own head thinking those breakfasts are less nourishing, less intentional, less like the kind of mom I wanted to be. But life is life-ing, and there is more to experience (school bells, coffee dates, new parks to explore!) that goes beyond the kitchen production that is our breakfast!

Quick Wins:

Freezer-friendly batch prep-

  • Nutrient-dense muffins (banana oat, pumpkin egg, or zucchini flax) — double the batch on a Sunday, freeze half, reheat in 30 seconds

  • Whipped bone marrow "butter": roast marrow bones, whip the marrow until fluffy, freeze in an ice cube tray. Drop a cube onto pancakes, oatmeal, or scrambled eggs while they're hot — it melts in like butter but carries collagen, minerals, and healthy fat.

  • Hidden-liver eggs or muffins: a small amount of pureed liver blended into scrambled eggs or into a muffin batter (with cocoa or banana to mask flavor) — a classic functional-nutrition trick for getting iron, B12, and choline in without anyone noticing.

  • Bone broth-based breakfast: swap the liquid in oatmeal or a savory breakfast porridge for bone broth instead of water/milk. Adds protein and gut-supportive collagen with zero extra effort.

  • Collagen or gelatin add-ins: stirred into coffee, smoothies, or yogurt for a simpler nose-to-tail entry point than marrow or liver, for those of us who aren't there yet :)

Mindset reframes-

  • "Nourishing" doesn't require a stove: a burrito, a muffin, and a smoothie pack all count

  • Consistency over perfection: one good element in a rushed breakfast still matters

  • Prep once, eat five times: batch cooking is holistic nutrition's best kept secret for busy seasons

Real food doesn't have to mean cooking from scratch every morning. Whether you're a busy mom juggling school drop-off, work, and after-school activities, or you're simply trying to get more protein into your mornings, healthy breakfasts don't have to be complicated to be nourishing.

THIS is exactly why we started making our high protein breakfast burritos. We wanted to create a healthy frozen breakfast made with real ingredients, pasture raised meats from local farmers we know and trust, and the kind of slow-cooked quality we'd serve at our own table, without asking anyone to stand over a stove at 6:45am.

Pop one in the oven while you're helping with hair and searching for the missing shoe. Sit down and actually PLAY or read a book. Or get that workout done, mama.

As you settle into the back-to-school rhythm this year, whatever that looks like for your family, we hope our Breakfast Bundle makes at least a few mornings feel easier. Each bundle includes 12 healthy breakfast burritos, six flavors, and over 20-30 grams of protein each. They're grain-free, made with real ingredients, and prepared the same way we'd feed our own family here in Dripping Springs, just outside Austin, Texas. Because healthy food should fit real life, not the other way around.

Looking for healthy breakfast options in Austin? Whether you're stocking your freezer for busy school mornings or searching for high-protein, ready-to-heat breakfasts your family will actually enjoy, our Breakfast Bundle was made for exactly that.
