Happy Monday, Y’all!
For those of you who are new around here, you may be wondering…
WHY on earth is this white suburban family making burritos? Or as we like to say in our house…. Why are these Gringos making burritos?!

About a decade ago, we discovered the transformational power of REAL food.
After serving six years in the U.S. Navy onboard a fast attack nuclear submarine, owner and founder Eric Stees was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (a chronic inflammatory arthritis). A lifetime of NSAIDS and pharmaceuticals were prescribed, and while they temporarily reduced the pain, these drugs damaged his gut and were much more of a bandaid than a long term solution.
His wife Meghan found herself struggling with hormonal imbalances after years of taking birth control and eating a cheap college junk food diet. She sought out a functional medicine doctor who prescribed more gentle and natural hormone therapy, but they ended up bringing on a host of side effects of their own.
This led each of them down the path of using food as medicine. What started out as a paleo based framework built upon chicken, broccoli, and coconut oil (IYKYK) eventually grew into a beautiful discovery that you can actually eat almost ANYTHING you like, just level up the ingredients!
The natural progression of clean eating within their family seems to be echoed among many other wellness enthusiasts.
First, you eat anything at all that the FDA deems food. Then, you hear about going gluten free so you give that a go. Then, you discover that just because something is gluten free doesn’t mean it’s better for you and in fact, often it can be worse. Then you discover that marketing is SO misleading and that even when you pay a premium for organic or grass-fed it is often coming alongside a host of sugars, seed oils, and other ingredients you wouldn’t choose otherwise. So you lean into restriction further. Then you embrace and celebrate the joy of ALL foods, you just now have an understanding of which ingredients to use and how to create your favorite meals once again.

The only problem here is that cooking healthfully is a FULL. TIME. JOB! From sourcing from vetted local farmers and ranchers, to washing chopping and preparing meals, to clean up and dishes ON TOP OF careers, relationships, and hobbies, we are maxed out on time.
So we set out to create a product that was truly clean, truly delicious, and truly helpful to connect local farms to local families and make real food more accessible.
We hope you love our burritos and we look forward to bringing you more farm fresh goodness throughout 2025! :)
